Book Review: My Husband Betty

By Helen Boyd

This book written by Helen Boyd is a wonderful source for information and perspective for anyone who has a loved one that identifies as a transgender. This is a unique book that deals with, and is written for, a very important and often overlooked part of the trans experience, that is the experience of the spouse and loved ones.

While at the time that Ms. Boyd wrote this book, her husband identified as a cross dresser; still, the information is valuable for anyone throughout the trans spectrum.

My wife read this book and found the information not only helpful but also very insightful. Some things she says about it include:

"It is nice to hear the partners point of view and what they are going through. This book wasn’t just written about her husband, it was about other couples and what they go through as well. This was helpful because the non-transitioning partner sees things differently and it is nice to have others to relate to. I suggest this book to anyone transitioning but especially to their partners and loved ones."
