Nov, 20, 2010 - Transgender Day of Remembrance

The annual Transgender Day of Remembrance will be Saturday, November 20th. This day is set aside to remember all of the transgender people who's lives have been taken from them to soon. I think we as a culture overlook or sometimes even justify violence and harassment of trans people like myself because our culture sees our behavior as deviant and immoral. This is an unfortunate truth in a world that certainly doesn't need any more hate.

I will avoid ranting and just say please take some time to remember, and take some to to realize how senseless this violence (and all violence) is.

Katherine-

You're absolutely about the Day of Remembrance. An important thing we can do is to make sure elected officials are concerned about this vital issue. Please remember to vote.

I would appreciate it if you read my blog, http://emilysvirtualrocket.blogspot.com. The blog is a virtual compendium of articles from newspapers, newsweeklies, and magazines, both popular and scholarly. The articles have a viewpoint toward transgender / transsexual news. If you like it, please put
"Emily's virtual rocket "under the title commonly called
"Blogroll". Thank you so much!

Sincerely,
