Book Review: Man's Search for Meaning

By Viktor E. Frankl

Of all the books I could suggest to read, this one is at the top of the list! This book is both inspirational and truly a great explanation of what the term "survival" really means. The book is broken down into two halves.

The first half is a detailed retelling by Mr. Frankl's of his experiences during the second world war when he was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp. Here he recounts the misery and the death, but also offers some telling information about how some people still managed to find some kind of meaning to their existence.

The second half is dedicated to an explanation of this psychotherapeutic method called logotherapy. Here he goes into detail about his theory that what really drives us as human is a desire to find meaning in our lives.

Overall this book is wonderfully written and easily (and convincingly) makes its point; that even in the darkest times we can choose to find purpose and a reason to live. Again, I highly suggest you take the time to read this wonderful book.
