At Today's GOP Reading of The Constitution

"...No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."...

Pause...

"Umm... Wait... That isn't what the fore-founders meant!!! Barack Obama put that there to trick us and take away your job and put you in front of a death panel and... Umm..."

This demonstration (the reading of the constitution by the GOP) is the perfect example of being hypocritical.

Dear Silly,

First off, having just watched C-SPAN, I can report that about half of the readers of the Constitution were Democrats. That is a good thing.

Secondly, I don't get the hyprocrisy note. Are you making an inference about illegal immigration?

Oh, do not get me wrong, I think the reading of the Constitution is a great thing (I posted that in a previous article (http://sillytranswoman.blogspot.com/2010/12/lets-see-if-they-learn-something.html)... I just hope they saw their own hypocrisy while they did so.

This display was a show and nothing more then a hypocritical display of false patriotism. These people cry about the Constitution and limited government and then promote ideas that trample on peoples rights. This includes them being against the Dream Act, same sex marriage, LGBT equality in general and a woman's right to choose.

Limited government??? Give me a break... These people would pass a law saying you could only piss facing east on Thursday if they could.

I am 100% against illegal immigration but if someone is born here the law is clear... I am against abortion but that is my view and the government has no right to say what someone can do with their own body.

I am also a transsexual woman who is married to a woman and NO ONE is going to tell me my marrige is immoral or invalid! My wife and I have made it through more shit than most couples would even think about!

Bottom line, rights are rights... They are not up for debate and you cannot selectively exclude citizens of this country from exercising there rights just because you morally object to their way of do so.

Please don't take this as an attack on you! It isn't. I appreciate your visiting my blog and I am thrilled you found it useful... I am just ranting... The GOP pisses me off, if nothing else, because in my heart I am a fiscal conservative... Something that at one time truly defined the Republican party.

Maybe you should get involved with your local GOP? As Harvey Milk said, "they are less likely to hate us if they know one of us." : )
