From http://www.huffingtonpost.com - Straight Talk: When a Daughter Changes Her Gender, Does She Become a Son?

This is a very good response to a question posed by one of this particular column's readers. Their question was as follows:

Q: My friend's daughter now says she's transgender and had surgery to remove her breasts last week. I guess I should have written my friend's "son." Anyway, "he" seems thrilled with his results, but he is still a girl where it counts, so it is very confusing. And does this make him gay, or what?

Here is the response... Basically it states the facts.
  1. Drop the quotes.
  2. Gender identity does not equal sex and is not determined by sexual organs.
  3. Gender identity and sexual preference are not the same.
