From Pew Research - Study: Polls may underestimate anti-gay sentiment and size of gay, lesbian population

This is a very interesting study done to see if people's attitude towards something they deem socially outside the mainstream would change if they where asked in a way where they knew their results cannot be traced back to them personally... For this study the researchers asked a number of questions pertaining to the persons sexual identity and attitudes towards LGBT people.

Here are the results:



I am not surprised to learn that when people know there is no way to trace their answers back they will tell the truth about their sexual orientation and their feelings towards others.
